I am new to editing (and filmmaking for that matter). Decided that after 20+ years of fighting the bad guys I needed to do something relaxing...make movies:)

I down loaded Vegas 5 a couple of day ago and do not have a clue. Does someone out there have a tutorial on dvd they are willing to let me borrow?

BTW, I have been reading this forum for a few weeks now, you guys ROCK!

As goofy as it may seem, the manual is well-written--so it's a good place to start. Beyond that you'll want to order Douglas Spotted Eagle's Vegas 5 Workshop--an incredible bargain at around $30. Go ahead and play with things--you can't break anything.

Oh I can break things...been doing that for quite some time now. I did print the manual and have been playing around with things. Problems is, I do what I want to do (after an hour), but can't figure out how I did it.

Thanks for the help, I will look into the workshop.

One more question. Is Vegas the best entry level software for a beginner or do you recommend another, i.e. Premiere Pro etc?

Hey Barry, I just looked at the Douglas Spotted Eagle's Vegas 5 Workshop site. I would really perfer to see it (video). Someone gave me a copy of Premiere 6.0 videos (about 16 hours worth), and after watching them a couple of times I started to catch on.

I've tried a bunch of NLE software and I think Vegas is the easiest to learn *and* the most powerful in some respects. The VAAST website also sells training DVDs and Gary Kleiner has some instructional videos that are supposed to be pretty good.
