What would it take for me to up grade to Vagas.5? Right now I have Premier 6.5 with Pinnacle Pro one. Would I need a new capture card? What Kind of power would I need?
could I use my brake out box from Pinnacle? Thank you.

Re: Help

I think you'll probably find that, if your system can run Premiere 6.5, it'll run Vegas without problems. You won't need a new capture card and I think your breakout box will work nicely.

Re: Help

Vegas is designed to capture and export DV via fiirewire, so an OCHI compatable IEEE1394 port is all you need. Most current motherboards have this, or you can add a $35 card.

Re: Help

Sorry, I thought you were saying SHOULD I upgrade - yeah, if you're using Prem 6.5 wih no troubles, then Vegas will work very happily - I have both of them co-existing quite happily.

Re: Help

You guy's Rock. My program is cool, I just heard that Vegas is more smoother running. Will my break out box work for sure?
How do the Two, 6.5 / Vegas stand side by side? Or should I just stay with what I have. Besides Vegas being 24p native how do the two compare If editing a full movie just to go to DVD? Thank you

Re: Help

I'm one of these wierdos who uses Vegas, Avid and Prem 6.5 all on the same system! I choose which one to use based on whatever project, I'm working on.

To be honest, most of the time, I make the choice just becuase I'm in a 'Vegas' mood, or an 'Adobe' mood, or I feel like 'breaking out the Aivd'(!), so it's hard to say - if you're happy with Vegas, then why bother getting Premiere? Personally, I use Prem for most things, and certainly with large video projects, I find it to be a lot less 'cluttered' than the other two. But if truth be told, my desision to say "hey, I'm gonna cut this corporate video on Avid today", is really a random (and therefore stupid!) one... ;D

You're not alone! I also use Vegas, Premiere and Edius. Sometimes I assemble something in one, just to use in another. Glad I'm not alone in this process. ;)
