I've mentioned this in other places but...

I am saving money for another camera and was given a copy of After Effects 5.5 standard. It has been sitting on my desk for months staring at me while I drool over CS3. What can I do with it? Should I install it and try it out; I mean it's never been opened. With the program in it's, what, 8th incarnation or something, what the h*ll can I do with this?

Mind you, if I want to practice I can download a trial of CS3 for free... I want to know what I can do with 5.5 specifically!

I think you can upgrade 5.5 to CS3 for $300. There have been so many improvements to AE since 5.5 that it's worth the money. Heck 5.5 didn't even have the ability to generate type.
