OK, so here's the deal. I have no problem creating the 360 degree panoramic images. The problem I'm having is finding a program to take an image and make it into a virtual tour file that I can put on a webpage. Basically something like this:
http://tours.tourfactory.com/tours/tour.asp?t=302139
(Under the heading "Additional Scenes" click on "Front 360" and it brings up a virtual tour that you can control my moving the mouse from side to side.)
The only program that is somewhat suitable that I've found is called TourWeaver by Easypano. It's an alright program, but it only runs on Windows and the interface is kinda clunky. It also displays this weird copyright thing that basically acts like a pop-up before the tour plays. That's in the Standard Version ($200). You have to buy the Professional Version ($600) to get rid of that.
Is the Quicktime VR format dead? I know Apple doesn't make authoring packages any more. If I somehow found an authoring program, would any version of Quicktime even support that?
I'm pulling my hair out here. This really shouldn't be this hard; I don't know why it is. Thanks for any help you can provide.
