I was working on a project last night with no issues. I go to work on the project today and all the audio sounds very distorted! Nobody uses my laptop but me. Then I couldn't get my audio out to my external monitor which is a flat screen tv. It was distorted there too. I hooked up my headphones and got complete silence!
I went into my TOP menu in FCP and selected VIEW then Audio Playback and this is what I found:
Audio Follows Video
- sounds horrible
Firewire DV
- sounds horrible
Built in Output
- sounds GREAT on Laptop/Headphones but dead silence on External
Default had the same results as Built in Output.
I have never ever experienced this issue before and need to know how to fix it. Like I said, I had clear undistorted audio that could be heard last night through my external and now it either is dead silent when I play something back or it is very distorted.
The levels on my meters are not even in the red zone however it sounds awful when I had it set to Audio Follows Video or Firewire DV. The other 2 options sounded great on the laptop but nothing externally. Video shows up fine.
It's not just the current project. I tried some other projects and I got the same results. I didn't make any Audio playback changes whatsoever before tonight.
