Help with very short RAM preview!

Hi

I've got a brand new install of AECS4 on a brand new install of Vista 64,
and the RAM previews are very short, only 6-10 frames regardless of the
length of my workarea.
My machine:
Asus M2A-VM motherboard
AMD Phenom 9550 Quad processor
Nvidia Quadro FX 1550
6GB DDR2 RAM

I've got 5GB currently assigned to AE so what am I missing here?

it depends on what kind of footage you're working with. If you're working with, let's say 2K at full resolution, that would seriously strain your machine. Althought, with 5GB dedicated, that seems unlikely. If you can't find anything else wrong you may need to just set AE to skip every other frame or so and work in half resolution. Another thing you could do is create proxies of high data elements.
