Help with this transition (FCPX)

I've been trying to figure out how to do this smooth transition using masks in FCPX but am having trouble. When a moving foreground object wipes to reveal the next scene.

If any of you guys know the trick within FCPX, please teach me.

much appreciated.

There are several ways to do this, but this looks like there was just an overlay still with feathered sections/edges that was animated across the frame above a simple wipe between the two clips. The wipe would be positioned and timed so that the animated shape hid the actual wipe edge. You might have to set a different blend mode on the still, but it would be similar to using a light leak clip above two clips to mask the transition. The actual blend mode would depend on the overlay still and what parts of it needed to be transparent.

This might even be a third party transition, but I don't recognize it. Hope this helps.

Give the Transitions>Wipes>Wipe a shot. Probably allow 4 or 5 seconds.
Use the Left Direction with around 75% on the Edge Treatment>Border with either Feather to Noir selected, I'd go with Noir.

BTW: Use a solid black Generator from the Generators to transition in and out of.
