Help with this FX shot

Hi all, I have a simple FX but yet tough to me. I have a 30 second video color clip that I would like to turn it into black & white at the half way mark. I would like the color to slowly start fading away as the clip plays and it transitions into black & white. This is a continous clip with no cuts.

I would appreciation any help, I'm using Sony Vegas 6d in a 24p widescreen timeline if that matters.

Use the Sony Black and White filter.
At 13 seconds set the initial keyframe with 0% filter, at 17 seconds set it to 100%, Vegas will fill in the rest.

Yeah I tried it, it didn't work. Maybe I'm not tweeking it right but I was able to get the video half color then half black & white. But it wasn't a smooth transition. It just goes from color straight to black & white.

I want to be able to make the colors slowly fade out, that's the difficulty I'm having.

First, when you say half color and half B&W, do you mean the effect is split left side, right side? If so, click the effect bypass button on the top of your preview window.

When you open the B&W filter you need to add keyframes on the timeline to control when and how fast the effect happens.

And yeah, you need the keyframes. I suggested @ 13 & 17 seconds for a 4 second transition.

No, I don't mean half color and half black & white, the video is full color then the whole video slowly transitions to full black & white, that's what I'm looking to do.

I've played around with the keyframe but it doesn't slowly transition, it just ads the b&w filter.

You need 2 keyframes.... the first at 0%, the second at 100%

I was able to play around with the key frames and figured it out, thanks all who weighed in.
