Well, it depends on your samples. Where they shot on a chroma screen? Or in negative space (against black)? Are they shot over normal backgrounds that you don't need?
Here is how to handle all 3 scenarios:
1. For footage shot against a blue/greenscreen...put it into After Effects and use Keylight to remove the blu/green and comp over footage. To pull the best key, use multiple passes of Keylight and some garbage mattes to preserve edges, etc.
2. For footage shot in negative space...generally elements that are shot in negative space are things like fire, smoke, sparks, etc. These can be comped over your footage with Add transfer mode, some like to use Screen too.
3. For footage that is shot against an unwanted background...this is where your best friend rotoscoping will come in handy. Basically you will have to roto out the object you wish to use.
Now, if you got really lucky, your footage already has an alpha channel embedded, and in this case you need to interrupt whether it's straight or premultiplied upon import. There is a guess button that you can use to help, but sometimes it's wrong. Either way, your footage will be ready to go once you import with the alpha channel, then you can comp it in.
ok well the most important part i need is the blood splatter. Im still very new to AE and what i tried to do was mask both the video of the guy shooting himself and the clip of the blood splatter. The problem is that you can see the little whole in the whole video. I only need it in that specific part. Im not sure how your suppose to mount one video over the other....HELP!
Just mask the blood splatter over the guy shooting. Put the blood splatter layer over the guy shooting, then use your pen tool to trace out the blood splatter and that's it.
