Help with Sennheiser mic

I just borrowed a Sennheiser MKE 300 shotgun mic from school to use with my dvx100, but the output isn't XLR, it's a 3.5mm jack. My question is, how am I supposed to hook this up to my cam? I don't see a simple microphone input on the dvx. Will I have to use a converter to go to the XLR? This is probably a very sad newbie question, but thanks for the help in advance.

yes you need an adapter.. either a cable adapter or a beachtek adapter.. cable is gonna be the cheapest, and you can probally make your own at radioshack (they may even sell an adapter)

Anyways, careful with that mic. The onboard mic's on the DVX are actually better than that shotgun, and look at where your shotgun attatches to the camera, that little molded-on non removable plastic hotshoe clip will break if you run into something, bad design move, but be careful as its not a warranty covered break.

Thanks a lot man, I'll just forget using that mic if the onboard is better. You guys are always helpful. Thank you once again.

ps if i want to buy a shotgun that I'll hook on using the clip that came with the camera, what is a good buy for a shotgun? Thanks.
