Help with Quality!!!

It looks like you shot without the assist of OIS? The footage is really stuttery when moving the camera around. Still, hand held action shooting can be a lesson; you gotta keep that camera still. Also I would have exposed for the players under the awning; it's nice that the sky is exposed but the players are complete sillouettes. In this case I would have allowed the sky to blow out so we could see the action.

What is OIS? I'm really new to this, where can i find out more about shooting, making it the best I can?

You need a tripod.

You need to use fewer nauseatingly-quick pans.

You need to frame the shots better -- too many shots with empty space above everyone's heads.

You need to expose better. The shots were dark and heavy on backlighting.

Avoid snap zooms.

At the beginner level, you'd probably do well with a subscription to Videomaker magazine.

That about sums it up.

I already mentioned "Expose for the Players" and not the background sky; appears you had ND on; TURN IT OFF in this case. You just dont have enough light under the awning; or you DID but just EXPOSED for the trees.

Hand held or Tripod; that's an art in itself. Going to take some practice probally.

Questions.

When you say Frame the Shots better what do you mean? Is it because i was taller then the players and I had the camcorder over my shoulder? Should I lower it to my chest and look throw the view finder?

When you say Exposer for the players, I have no idea what you mean.. I'll never record under a roof again, I'll tell you that.

Expose for the players.

You have exposed for the background. The sunlight, the trees. If you Expose for the players it means you open up the IRIS to bring the players into proper exposure. As it is now, they are black, sillouettes.

Framing the shots? Ya know, composition and framing? Doesnt matter if its shoulder held, on a ladder or on the ground.

I'd look into some basic photography classes.

Basically, change the exposure setting on your camera so that the background is blown out (overexposed) so the basketball players can be seen better.

You need to frame your shots better. Which means...you just need to probably tilt down a little bit, because there's too much head-room in your shots.

Oh H*LL YES! In my exposure menu on my camera it simply says: Exposure < Manual then it has numbers. What should I be able to see diffrent to know it is over exposed?

Oh, ok. So its the switches on my cam, cause one says "A", "M". I gotta put it on M so i can adjust it.

Whats Next?

But how did the quality of theres come out so good if the exposre is poor?

I need clarification on the expose, can i see pictures?

THX!
