Help with prod. company logo?

So I think I've decided to call my company "Shindig". Laugh all you want but i "dig" it!

ok sry, any I was wondering if anyone, if you have some free time, might want to take a crack at a logo for me. :)

If i use it, I'll credit you on my website and at the end of anyproject where i use it!

Also if it matters, what does anyone feel about the all important "word that comes after the cool name". Shindig... Productions? Shindig... Films? Shindig... Pictures? I'm hoping to nab a domain name soon and these are ALL available, so let me know!

Thanks Again!!! :)

Logo design is something that some people skimp big time on and go with something simple.

Others are trained in the graphic arts and know what they are doing when they make it.

The "others" are people you hire to make your logo for you when you don't want to do it yourself.

A logo is very important and tells people that your buisness means buisness. A well designed one will strike a emotional chord in all who sees it, and with any luck will accurately represent your buisness - and in turn be remembered by those who see it.

A good logo can be scaled to any size, used in every medium, and work well in both color and black and white.

Logo designers usually charge around $60 dollars an hour, and could take anywhere from 6 -12 hours per logo.

But, its worth it.

I'm lucky in that I have a background in art/graphic design so my logo serves my buisness well, and people are very impressed when they see it. It is a work of art that communicates something through symbolism.

If you look closely you can see a cap. Neat huh... took me 4 hours to make in illustrator - but it looks really neat (I think so) and its a vector file so it prints great too.

Hey Redcap...Your logo looks like it would be a lot of fun to animate, lots of parts and possabilities.

Yeah .... i'm working on it :)

Maybe after I get done with this PSA that I've got to show to the client to tommorow morning at 10 AM!

it definately is CRUNCH TIME!

DOOH.

What the hell am I doing here. I should be working.

It's a great name. Lots of possibilities. Since "shindig" is an older word that refers to a party or festiv occassion, I decided to go with a fun 60's style font treatment.

Shindig Logo #2

I, literally, spent 5 minutes on both of these. They are very basic, with generic colors, and are meant to spark ideas and get the ball rolling. One idea is a "twister" type look. You know, the old party game. Any thoughts?

Used to watch Shindig (and Hullabaloo, for that matter) when I was a wee tyke.

I like your graphic better than the one they used. :-)

Shindig Studios. Definitely.

...and I'll take a crack at the logo as soon as I have a bit of time alone with photoshop and my wacom this evening.

FWIW I strongly prefer Shindig Pictures.

To me, "Shindig" says, fun, energetic, creative, collaborative, hip, cool.

And Productions says staid, corporate, businesslike, dry, straightlaced.

But Pictures says retro, quirky, inventive, artistic.

So I think Shindig Pictures has it all over Shindig Productions.

Also, Shin-dig Pic-tures rolls nicely, two-syllables and two-syllables, a tattoo rhythm. Shin-dig Pro-duc-tions is two-and-three, which is not rhythmic on the tongue or to the ear, and not in any way as catchy.

Shindig Studios is good, too...got that alliterative thing going for it. And Studios is a nice alloy of professional, and creative.

Free advice, guaranteed to be worth every penny you paid for it.

Good advice Sad Max. I hope Cheesesailor comes back to read this.

If you don't mind me asking, why are you so sad? :(

yes i've been reading, but i keep checking in every few hours between errands, havnt had time to respond. SRY! :(

Anyway, PK ur logo rocks! very pro! its a TAD on the fruity side, maybe the colors. Actually i think its the font. I love the idea, the font is appropraite for the intention, but i think i'd prefer another variation on that theme. If that took you 5 min, then why the hell arent you making hundreds of thousands of dollars as a graphic artist! very pro dude!

Originally I was pretty sold on calling it Retro Films. I always liked the word (its been my handle for as long as i can remeber until last year when a few places i registered for it was taken) and i like how it reresents the coolest, hippest stuff from the past. Retro means the cool suff that has survived and is more respected becuase you were the cool kid who dug to find it and enjoy it again. But too many ppl felt it had a bad conitation(?), like it meant old, or passe, and not hip and fresh.

So a few weeks ago i actually heard my Great Aunt refer to a party as a "shindig" and i repeated it to myself in that long, sarcastic way... "Shindig". I think its great, it stands for all the things retro does, has that same effect, but also fun, party.

Personally, I agree about Productions. And generally I'll lean toward pictures, but I too like Studios. There are other choices like Entertainment, etc. But i'm torn between Pictures and Studios. For me the main distinction is that Pictures as a word sounds cool (and i like the point of it being kinda retro) and Studios is less limited than Pictures, can be used for other endevours.

So again, Its amazng how supportive this community is, everyones willing to help out and have some fun. Thanks for the suggestions and I can't wait to see more!

Sad Max is the name of a character in one of my short stories, which I'm developing as a screenplay...

Hey, this is a cool thread with lots of good, creative input.

PK - I'm pickin' up what you're throwin' down. :)

fwiw... Shindig definition according to Merriam-Webster:
1 a : a social gathering with dancing b : a usually large or lavish party.

Actually... I did graphic design and advertising for Microsoft in a previous life. Hence the reason I fled the country and semi-retired in rural Thailand. MS brand standards will drive anyone insane! Now I can only spend a maximum of 5 minutes on any design project before I get bored or get a headache. :)

I still do some design work to help make rent. But rent is only $100 so my design skills have been slacking. :(

Cheese - Good luck with the logo. It is a cool name and deserves a cool logo. You'll find the right fit. Don't settle for anything less. If you have some ideas or can point me in a certain direction I'll try and get you a few more treatments.

It occured to me, and should have been obvious from the begining. I'd like to try some kind of 50's commercial art for the logo. You know, that line art of of a smiling, handsome man, maybe holding a martini glass? anyone wanna try incorporating something like that? or at least does anyone know where i can find 50's pop/commercial art? :)
