Help with Premiere cs2!

I just started using Premiere again to edit. Unfortunately it is cs2. I don't know if i have the wrong codec or what but i cannot seem to export a good quality file. I tried just AVI, tried mpeg2 and windows media. Please help with any assistance. Thanks.

I know this is such a noob question but please help.
 
Questions:

1. For what purpose are you outputting?
2. What is the original footage?
3. Has the footage been compressed prior to final output?
4. Do you also have After Effects?

I am going to use the footage for the web, and dvd.
Original footage is going out of my DVX100a via firewire to premiere.
no compression.
I do have after effects

Thanks a lot. All of this has made me realize i need to get the updated versions. I appreciate your detailed feedback.
 
Sorry but for dvd not a very good example as you end up with one file which you do not want. You need two file and the extention should read m2v and wav of ac3. And TS is probably on a pc.
 
I just started using Windows 3.1 again and I can't download a program while typing a document in Word because my system freezes and my modem does not have a 16550 UART. Please help...
