Help with overhead rigging

Hey guys!

Hope all is well. I'd like to begin safely rigging lights above the subjects on set for my cinematography (butterfly light). I'm looking for some help putting together the stands, rails and connectors I'd need to get a few 5 pound LEDS above my actors. Please, don't be afraid to post links to equipment or tutorials. I need all the help I can get. Thanks in advance and keep kicking butt.

Speed rail/truss and Cardelinni clamps are your friend for overhead rigging. You'll need some tall and sturdy combo stands to hold the rail up, and pipe clamps on the combo stands to hold the rail itself.

And safety cables on any overhead lights! Always and without exception.

Any time you raise an instrument above your (or more specifically the talent's) head, you had better be doing at least double safety wire on ALL instruments, and making damn sure your rigging is solid. I have to rig gear 90+ ft above crowds and I safety up in triplicate.

Grug! Thanks so much for the detailed item list. Is there a good place to purchase something like that?

Most of the big film/video/photography stores will have them. I tend to like Filmtools.com for grip gear because their shipping rates tend to be the best (and I'm on the far side of the planet!)
