Help with noise issue

Hi -

I just returned from Russia and have some great interview footage, but there is a problem! We were on a remote stretch of river and I wasn't equipped with LAV mics! In the interviews, the river noise is really ruining everything.

Adobe premiere and audition aren't seeming to get anywhere. Are there any sound experts on this board that I could solicit to tackle a job on higher end software like iZotope RX? I have no experience in sound so I'm confident someone out there could make a difference!

Thanks!

You won't get much but sympathy unless you post an UNCOMPRESSED sample of the recording.
Please tell us that you were monitoring the audio while recording or you won't even get our sympathy.

Please tell us the gear you used (mic / recorder / camera) and how / where it was mounted, how far you were from the subject etc...

Just as others have said already, it's tough to give sympathy if you traveled all the way to Russia for a job and didn't know what you were getting sound wise until you got back
instead of being able to try to fix the problem on location.
Also just as hard to feel sorry for is that you traveled halfway across the world and didn't take the proper sound tools you would need.

The reason I mention that is the one positive that will hopefully come out of this is that you learned a lesson that you won't repeat in the future.

All that being said, without hearing a sample it is impossible to tell you if it's fixable at this point or not.
If you have a "real" budget PM me and I'll give you some names.
Scott Koue on this board does excellent work, perhaps you should PM him to get a quote.

Are you saying you "boomed" the interviews or you just used the on-cam nat mic? I hope I'm wrong, but I have a mental image of this being shot on a little camcorder with nothing other than the on-camera mic...
