Help with NeoScene CS4.1 Preset

Help please with a preset for working with NeoScene AVIs converted from 1080p AVCHD (Canon 7D). Nothing I see listed and nothing I've tried custom will give me a green timeline line on the converted NeoScene AVIs...always red and needing render.

FYI: NeoScene converted AVIs play smoothly in the CS4.1 clip window but jerk and stutter when placed on the timeline (under a red bar).

Is there a way in CS4.1 to grab a preset from a file? That would sure make this simple because I'll only be editing NeoScene coverted AVIs.

Windows Vista64 if that's important.

Any tips for this stumped noob?

You're not going to get a green bar in the timeline unless you render it out. The Cineform codec isn't one of the codecs natively supported by CS4. That's just the way it is. The only solution is going to be to plunk down $620 for the upgrade to Prospect HD v4 when they finally get a working RT engine for it in a few months.

The best you can do is use the "desktop" setting in the drop down menu when doing custom and set it to 1920x1080.

Man, that's a heartbreaker for sure. I got NeoScene to relieve the herky-jerkies on native AVCHD MOVs from the Canon 7D. I upgraded to CS4.1 to edit the AVCHD with a Dual Core 2.88 GHz 4GB Ram Lenovo t61p and was disappointed to discover that while the AVCHD MOVs would load, they would not play smoothly at all. Now I discover that NeoScene isn't the solution I was told it would be "for sure". Now, even after rendering and getting a green bar, the playback in the editing window is jerky. Might it be that I'm playing the file off the same c:\ drive that I'm running the project from? I can't really help that yet...the external drive is coming but not here. I don't understand why the clip plays smoothly in the clip window but not in the master monitor window...any ideas on that?

Is there a way for me to edit AVCHD MOVs from my new Canon 7D using Premiere? I edit 1280x720 AVIs from my Nikon D90 as smooth as glass on an old machine with Premiere Pro 1.5. Please don't tell me to go to a Mac...I can't buy anymore machines right now and I'm maxing out my SW money too...very frustrating!

Thanks for your help.

I think the fact that it's the same drive as the OS and editing program probably have a lot to do with it. It's always a good idea to just have a second dedicated drive just for media. Cineform files have four times the bitrate of AVCHD. Add to that all the reading and writing it has to do for all the other programs the OS is accessing, plus CS4 on the same drive, and that probably more than the drive can handle. Cineform recommends a dedicated internal 7,200 RPM drive minimum, with a RAID array being preferred.

As to the reason why the clip window plays but not the master... I've not a clue. I can say the even when not rendered, playback for my dedicated drive isn't really bad (unless I start introducing multiple video tracks), and if I use the "draft quality" setting, it's not an issue.
