Help with Living in Los Angeles

Hi all,

I am going to move to LA on December 1st, and I was wondering if anyone that lives there or around there could give me some tips? I've read online that Santa Monica and Venice are nice places to live just expensive. Here are my general questions...

What is a nice safe area, I grew up in Chicago and I'm over having to fight off punk ass gang bangers in parking lots and when they try and break into your house. I just want a nice place to live preferably close to a beach where I don't have to worry about being an ultimate fighting champion just to get some food at night.

Where are the best compromises when it comes to price? I'm not looking to get a giant place for nothing, but I also don't want to pay $1100 for a closet.

Also what kind of Internet do you all have there? When I lived in San Francisco it was SBC Yahoo DSL. Do they have Comcast or cable Internet there so I can combo my Internet with my cable TV?

Thanks for any and all help you can give.

Oh yeah one quick thing where is a good place to surf where you don't have to worry about a bunch of point break meat heads that try to cut you for stealing their wave lol

Thanks,

Tim

Unless you are living in the ghetto; you will be.

That's why I keep my ass here. It's cheap and I can still make movies and put them on my website. Let's face it, if I moved to LA, I'd still be making movies and throwing them on my website but I'd be paying 10x as much to do it.

i've got a 1 bbedroom for 1250 in S.M. 675 SQ ft. about 1 mi from ocean rent control just this year good hood here give me call

it depends on what you do ,because the pay scale is much higher here. it tends to equal out. except real estate

I had to compromise size for safety. I have kids. I could have moved to the ghetto for a reasonable price. Instead I moved to Westwood in a small 2 bdrm apt. I pay 1750/mnth but the neighborhood is great and the schools are awesome too.

LA is expensive anyway you look at it. Good luck.
