Help with lighting...

After experimenting with lights, camera, and monitor lastnight, my lighting on my subject was either too dark or too light. In a real world shoot do I slightly over light, or slightly under light? Which is easier to correct in post.

Did you adjust the iris to compensate? That's the easiest method. Generally over lighting is better (as long as you don't blow the image out) as you can get a better image by darkening rather than lightening (brings out noise). Again, only if you don't blow out the footage.

Sorry, by "blowing out" I mean overexposing to the point where you loose highlight information (or in extreme cases midtones as well). It's all a balancing act really. The best is to have the perfect amount of light and the perfect iris setting of course :D
