Help with keyframing/fading

Hey guys, first post:thumbup:

I'm having a still image fade from saturated to desaturated. What I did was have two clips (one saturated the next desaturated) and have a dither dissolve between them which looks ok. I tried to do a simple keyframe from 100% to 0% but it won't work...is there any easier way to have done this?

You only need one clip. Drag the desaturate filter (Video Filters>Image Control>Desaturate) to the clip. Then click on the clip to make sure you are working on the filter in clip, and not in the effects window. Bring up the filter tab in the viewer. Click the keyframe button to set where the effect starts, at the appropriate value, then do the same for the end. Should work no problem.

I know that I have worked on an effects setting, then have it not work.. Turned out that I wasn't adjusting the setting on the effect in the clip.

why didnt the keyframing work? that's the best way to do it, so. are you confident with keyframing or maybe u didnt do it right?

yes good point, they might not be double clicking on the clip before doing their keyframes..

another thing i just thought of, if that when you skip to the end of the clip, make sure you're not ending up at the first frame of the NEXT clip. you have to back it up one frame.

hope that helps.

Thanks Jim and Scratchpatchfilms,

I was double clicking on the clip and it still didn't work but used Jim's advice and got it working. I'm guessing I was just adjusting the settings?:violin:
