Help with K-tek fuzzy please

so i took the plunge a few min ago and ordered my first Oktava hyper.

I plan on getting the KSSM for it, is there any place that sells the KSSM with the Soft Rubber mounts already attached or do i just have to buy em seperate?

I wanted to get the K-tek Fuzzy... but cant find it anywhere for sale. only the new blimp

and i was wondering what size for the oktava. Small? if i remember right the rycote fuzzy is 20 mm for the Oktava.. what does that translate into for k-tek.? and where do i get one.

i really only plan on using the Oktava indoors (but i want someting that does more and frankly looks better than foam), and have access to a 416 w/ blimp and junk

There are places that sell the KSSM with the soft bands in place of the regular. Do a google search. I think I read that B&H may sell them that way.

As far as the softie from K-Tek even the short which I have for my Rode 1 shotgun is twice the length of the Octava.

What you need is the Rycote Baby Ball Gag (BBG) for indoors. Do a search on the site for BBG and you will find that is the only and best indoor wind solution. The Sound Room does sell short little foam balls. I hope you bought it from the Sound Room. They make fuzzys for the BBG and it goes over it.

The size of the Rycote BBG for the Oktava is the 20mm one. Location Sound in LA and several other places have them. Around $110 -$130. Yea I know, you are paying more than twice the price of the mike for wind protection and suspension. If you want to save money get the Rode combo shock mount. It will work with the Oktava and Rycote BBG. It is tight fit but it works well and you will save about $85.00. This is what I have and I think the isolation is even a little better.

yes i got the mic from soundroom, and used the DV code. i was just hoping not to have to make room in my small kit for a BBG, and i thought i rembered somone talking about the ktek fuzzy , i didnt realize the short k-tek was so long.
thx kelly

I know others have used a Rycote Softie (5 mm) if you don't want a BBG. Can't speak to its performance, however, and the price is pretty close best I remember.

It's not the the K-Tek is so long it's that the Oktava is so short.
