Help with FCP

I've been having a few problems previewing hvx footage on my television. I basically run firewire from my macpro to my camcorder then to my tv. it worked perfectly fine the first few times I was editing now it doesnt. It must be something to do with the settings. On my tv the audio plays fine but it'll freeze frame the video (kinda like a slide show). It'll show the current frame I stop on but wont play fluid video. This also happens when I use the "desktop cinema preview" It's fcp 5.1 if that matters and just some cheapo camera i use as a vtr. I tried messing with the video preview settings like changing from "single frame" to "all frames" but nothing works! Please help!!!

thats a tough one, i would have to recommend not doing it that way anyways, since i mean its great to watch it on the TV that way, but doing it legit, with a second video card and the proper cables for the television, be it the S video / Composite video adapter, or using DVI . Is the TV an HDTV or SDTV?

thanks for responding. it's a SDTV. but the point is it does the same thing on the desktop preview. any sugestions? also what video card do you recomend?
thanks

View - External - ALL FRAMES... I'll bet it was changed to ONE FRAME or something like that.

Good luck,

thats wierd, you are on a Mac Pro Tower? Shouldnt be having probs playing any of that back. Im not sure what video card, i would have just added a second one in there when building on the website, and im about a month away from ordering my mac pro tower so not too much research on which ones yet. But even with the stock card in there, you should not have problems like this, let me research for a second on the toilet, ill be back. LOL

The most expensive video card for the Mac Pro tower will handle it fine.

What you're seeing is hardware based. What are your RT settings? What is your hardware configuration? They have to be balanced to get the most RT out of your system. But it sounds like a typical case of doing a larger project with larger clips and more filtering/FX than you used to do, and the hardware isn't keeping up.

So, what machine, what hard drive configuration, how much RAM, what are your RT settings? The solution is in this mix somewhere.
