Help with FCP export to quicktime

So I shot my music video with the DVX00 in 24p, and imported into FCP 5.1.4. Its getting close to the final edit and I need to export it.

When I export to quicktime with the default quicktime settings (DV-NTSC) the footage looks fine but its slightly downgraded in resolution it seems.

Now, taking this quicktime export and further exporting it but using h.264 at the same size causes the footage to look crisp and sharp, but with a noticeable strobe effect. I know that the strobing can be simpy because of fast movement with the camera, especially in 24 and with higher shutter speeds, but in DV-NTSC there is no strobing, so I feel that this has something to do with the different codec.

Does anyone have a better way of simply exporting the quicktime (720x480) from FCP, keeping the sharp resolution of the h.264 but without the strobing?

You probably changed frame rates too.

Anyway --

File - Export Quicktime... Current Settings will be lossless.

File - Export Quicktime Conversion - will be lossy.

But here's what I do:

File - Export - Quicktime Conversion...

At the bottom of the dialog box... change default to BROADBAND HIGH.

THen click the OPTIONS button and if you need to export 16:9 you'll need to click on SIZE and change to 480x270. Else leave it alone.

Good luck,

export "broadband high" for dvd?

export "broadband high" for dvd?

Cap'n: would you use this export to author a dvd in dvd studio pro? I am having a similar problem, the footage all looks fine in fcp (fcp 5.1.4 squeeze 24p footage in an anamorphic timeline) but when i export quicktime movie "current settings" and burn a dvd in DVD SP, the strobing is out of control. Any suggestions?
