Help with Compressor

Hi,
Does anyone have time to lay out the steps for me to compress a movie to play on my website?
I have about a 3 minute film on Final Cut Pro 4 and want to get is small enough to host.
I would really appreciate it.

What format do you want... Quicktime, I assume. How big would be too big to host?

If you've got QT7, H.264 is about 6 megs per minute. I love the compression...

Try this:
Inside FCP
File
Export
QT Compression
Change default to Broadband Medium
Make sure the format is set to h.264 - if you've got QT7 installed it will default to that.
Change size to suit

Export.

However - you didn't ask that:

go here:

http://www.proapptips.com

Register (painless and easy)

Go to Download section and there are a BUNCH of compressor droplets that all you need to do is drop a reference movie on it and let it go. I think there are still some examples of each of the compressions there too.

good luck,

CaptM

Thanks for the response. I am using quicktime and just want to put it on a .mac/homepage.
Not sure what is the max but I know my straight quicktime movie was too big. My mac is at home so I will experiment with your tips.
Thanks.
