Help with capturing...

I think this is a simple question, and, I think I know the answer, but I want some confirmation, so here it goes:

I shot something in 24p, captured in 24p (23.9??? whatever), and when I burned it onto a DVD and played it in my living room, the footage had this weird flicker to the motion.

Is this because if I am to capture footage at 24fps, I need to record it in 24pA? Whereas if I record in standard 24p I should capture at 30fps (29.97)? In the past before I had newer editing software that could capture in 24p, I would capture all my 24p footage at 30fps and it looked and moved fine.

Help a brother out.

If it's necessary to know my camera's a DVX100B.

Thanks.

If you record 24p you can edit on a 29.97 timeline with no issues. 24pa goes to 23.97 timeline with the pull down. If you recorded 24p and edited on 23.97 it may give you a slight flicker as the pulldown removes frames(to my understanding). Another thing you may want to confirm is that you are shooting "thick" as apposed to "thin" (just a thought).

Is the flicker in ALL motion? I seem to remember reading before something about not panning too fast or you'll get some sort of flicker or distortion.
