I just bought the Marshall monitor and Noga Arm from B&H for my HVX200. They had a package that included the following:
V-R70P-HDA 7" Marshall monitor
Noga DG-1105 Arm
IDX ES-7 Lithium mount battery
Petrol PLCD-2 Monitor Bag
The Good: The Petrol Bag is much more than a bag (as I thought). It acutally doubles as a display protector for the Marshall monitor, complete with flip out sun sheilds. This "bag" is really well designed. Getting it was the bonus out of this package that I wasn't expecting.
The monitor itself is really nice. Once I get the M2 that I have on order, it will really help at focusing, and will be necessary because of the "upside down" issue.
The Bad: The IDX battery seems awful heavy and bulky, and there is no way to charge it (B&H didn't include a charger, which after research is around $500). If the battery could charge through the monitor, that wont work either because when the battery is attached, it partially blocks the 4-pin power connector.
So, I'm going to return the battery, which brings me to my question:
Some of you have said that it is possible to modify the Marshall so it could run on the standard HVX-200 batteries. If so, can you tell me how it needs to be done, and what parts I would need? I would hire a video technician to perform the modification, unless you recommend that I could do it myself. I'm not an electrician though, and don't want to take risks.
Thanks in advance for the help.
