help with avchd 720p rendering, need to know pretty quick

Just wondering if i need to change the project properties from 1920 x 1080 to 1280 x 720?........or can i just set that in the render settings?.....also my 1080 settings are video: 10,000,000 bps - 4,000,000 and audio: 228,000 ......do i need to lower these for 720p?

Thanks please help i need this so i can render out 1080p and 720p versions for tomorrow.

the best way to test settings is to highlight a 5 second area of your video, then render out just the highlighted region. Try it a couple different ways on the same clip and compare the quality.
