Help with an effect in Premiere Pro CS6

Well, I've posted twice and don't see anything after refreshing the browser, so here goes attempt #3 -

Hi Brandon,

Put the background clip on V1 track, and face clip above it on V2. Apply a Garbage Matte effect to V2 track, and align matte points to outline mouth as needed. Areas outside the matte will reveal the background clip. To blend in the matte, you will need edge feathering, though I am not familiar with how that works in Premiere in relation to a matte. Adobe After Effects may be better suited to this job.

Once the matte is created to isolate the mouth, you will need to use the Motion effect to position, scale and rotate the mouth to best fit the face. Might be a good idea to shoot the mouth in close-up (at least so face fills frame) so you have a nice clean image and it can always be scaled down as needed. Better than it being too small and needing to be blown up.

Color Correction will likely be needed to match the two clips, as they will be shot under different lighting conditions. If the skin tones are off from one clip to another, it will ruin the effect.

Good luck with the project

Thanks

not shooting it with the effect in mind is always problem, but you could try tracking the mouth and stabilizing the footage, thus you have a mouth that is not moving. But if it's moving too much like you said then you'll get crazy distortion and you are probably better off re-shooting.

This that effect that was used on Conan O'Brien quite a bit. Look up BestProAction of youtube. He has a tutorial on it.
