help with adding a transition

I've added a couple already with no problem, dragging the transition to the video file on the timeline, however I'm having trouble with a standard wipe. It automatically goes down to the bottom or white part and comes up with the yellow triangle.

What I have noticed is that the other transitions did not have a cut in the white part of the video file. This one does.

Can anyone help me out, sorry if this is confusing.

you may need to extend the length of your clips so you have extra at the beginning and end of them for your transitions. Edius is a little different like that.
Another easy way to add a transition is to put your clips on 2 separate tracks. you can overlap them... i.e. have the bottom track come in under the track above it how ever far you want based on the length of the transition you are going for. Then just add your transition (the yellow bar you were speaking of) to the top clip. When you go to adjust the length of the transition it will allow you to snap it to the overlap of the 2 clips. make sense. It might be easier for you as your are figuring out the transitions. They work a little differently on the same track if you are more used to a vegas style nle, for example. There is an option in your settings (depending on the version you are using) that allows you to toggle the trimming of clips when you place transitions. Something like that. I am still learning Edius myself. But try the overlap way of transitions and see if you like that better while you are figuring it all out.
