Hi, all i am about to purchase a SG BLADE adapter for my ex1 with flip module (used).

I have had a look at the Indie Rails for this support because of grips and shoulder for movement.

how good is this rig, would it balance right? I know its no Red Rock rig but i am a student so looking for a cheapish investment which i will upgrade later on.

Also would i need something to hold the lens/adapter in place like this?

Here is the rig >>>>> http://indisystem.com/products/indirails_pro_xv_sm

please any advice/thoughts would he so helpful

Thanks

I wouldn't trust putting a camera and adapter on CF rods, might be just me but I wouldn't do it.
I'd maybe look at getting the rod package from shoot35 with the SG cradle and the camera raiser on their stainless rods. (3rd choice on their site)

Then maybe look at sourcing 3rd party handles and shoulder pad, maybe a crossbar if you can too. Like what jag35 offer.
Just need to check clearance on the shoulder pad, their postage is usually decent too.

It's a bit more expensive all up but at least it'll work and last a hell of a lot longer than that indie thing.

Thanks for the reply. The ex1 with indi supports is for a student film

i will be only using it and then sell later on in the year to get a better on probs makes sense too :)

I don't like Indifocus product and I've owned a few of them, including that shouldermount handle and backsupport (on a different rod system). The machining is very poor, with those screws easily stripping the bracket as you make adjustments and even then the locking mechanism is very fiddly and imprecise. I could never properly balance my Letus/A1 rig and the shoulder support isn't very comfortable either. My impression is that if you're looking for a feature-rich system at a low price, Indifocus is probably a fine choice, but you're sacrificing a great deal in term of build quality, adjustability and ease of use.

I believe the cavision rod support is the next cheapest solution so check them out.
I've own one of their rod supports and they sell great products

Yes i think indi systems will last for a bit. i LOOKED at the shoot 35 rails and jag grips, but probs be too expensive :( which is rubbish grrr.

Are they that bad the indi system?

"Bad" is probably not the correct term. Like I said, Indifocus is really good at delivering a product that packs in a lot of features at a low price. I know that a lot of people use Indifocus gears and are very happy with them. Does the gear work? Yes. But I personally couldn't put up with the constant little irritations of having to readjust loose screws and having every adjustment be a time consuming struggle. I'd rather pay more for the peace of mind but if this is the limit of your budget then it'll do the job.

Ok if not how about shoot 35 rails and Jag 35 grips and shoulder pad would this work and fit the product?
