HELP!! Will Vegas work with these?

HELP!

I called vegas and they had ZERO answers. But thank God I have this awesome forum, I know one of you experts will know what to do.

I have decided to upgrade my DVX100B camera. Go from standard Def to High Def and also go for 16:9. This upgrade seems to make sense since I am about to film a 2 hour drama with flashbacks to 1950 with tons of old cars, extras etc...

So now I am looking at 2 possible cameras: HVX200 and Canon XH-A1.

However I was just told that neither of them may work with Vegas and I really would like to keep using vegas for a multitude of reasons.

I would be using the canon with their 24f mode or the XHV200 with the 720 24p which I believe is DVC PRO format?

How can I use Vegas with these two cameras? Thank you sooo much. Since I am completely NEW at all this, if you can, please elaborate ans explain very clearly so I am able to understand your answers (pretend you are explaining it to a 3 year old!)

Put daddy's camera down... get your dirty hands off daddy's keyboard... ;)

Okay - Vegas will work with both the HVX200 and the XH-A1 -

If you go the Panasonic route, you'll need Raylight www.dvfilm.com/raylight for the PC to be able to read the MXF files in Vegas. About $200 for the software.

If you go the Canon route, Vegas will read 24f just fine and recognizes the cadence as a true 24p signal - I'm currently editing 24f footage with no problem.

Now it's down to which camera you prefer... that, I would research out very carefully - rent both if you can and try them both out to see which you will want and which will work best for you.

RATS, I think I am going to bite the bullet and go HVX200, which seems to be the standard.

Went to the website you referred me to, which of their software will I need with the HVX200 and Vegas in a PC? Thanks for your guidance!

PS: Does the software work good? Any problems? Glitches, etc?
