Help w/ Moving Footage for Split Screen

I have no idea if there is going to be a way to communicate what I want and what I have on this footage.
Basically, if you go to this link, you will see the short clip I am working on. When "suit and tie" character walks into the room and the footage of that clip slides over it appears to reveal the footage of "non suit" character as if it was a layer under... What I am wanting instead is when the "suit and tie" character's footage starts to slide it pulls in the other footage of the non suit with it as if the right corners of suit footage is pulling the left corners of non suit footage until they rest at split screen...
Does this make sense at all???
here is the link to the footage:

Hey jrod81. There are a few ways you can do this but I think the most straightforward way would be to double click on the clip of "not suit". This will open clip viewer settings for this clip (Which features tabs "Video", "Filters", "Motion", etc.).

Cilck on the "Motion" tab, then click on "Basic Motion" (if it isn't already), and you'll have the options "Scale", "Rotation", "Center", and "Anchor Point". Using "Center" with keyframes will do the trick.

The options for "Center" include an icon with a "+" sign to manually set [with your mouse] where you want your footage to be, but to the right of that there are two boxes. The left box is for Horizontal moving and the right box is for Vertical moving.

Keyframing will allow your footage to move from one place to another in a fluid motion, based on the "Center" coordinates you input.

To do this you just need place two keyframes within the "Center" options (one for where you want your footage to start on-screen and one for where you want your footage to end up on-screen) and manipulate the numbers within the left coordinate box (which, as said before, controls where your clip is aligned horizontally). Negative numbers make your footage move to the left, and positive numbers make your footage move to the right.

Hopefully this makes sense, and good luck!

You could use Motion tab way of doing split screen which works but can be tedious at times. If you have $20 to spare, I would suggest investing in Digital Heaven's DH_Box. It is a powerful split screen plugin which offers more controls then using the FCP Motion tab.

thanks guys so much for the help!!! i might just do the $20 route... that is cheap in today's world i feel
