HELP! Vegas-Quicktime Export Problem

A friend of mine is having a problem exporting from Vegas to a Quicktime 7 file.

First off, we both run the same version of Vegas Pro - 8.0c. I run it under Win XP, and she runs it under Vista.

We are both doing footage for a couple of stock footage sites. Both sites require the clips to be in Quicktime format. One site requires the compressor to be Motion JPEG B, while the other requires Photo-JPEG.

She captures HDV from her Canon HV30. She uses the "HDV 1080 60i" project template.

When she exports to Quicktime using Motion JPEG B, everything is fine. The clip uploads to the stock footage site, and they have no problems with it.

But when she exports to Quicktime using Photo-JPEG -- same trimmed .m2t file, other render settings the same -- and uploads to the other stock site, they report the footage has corrupted frames and is unusable.

I can use her camera and capture to my XP system, render as Photo-JPEG, and upload to the site with no problems.

Her Vegas runs from her C: drive, and she captures to a separate 1 TB internal SATA drive.

The first indication of trouble shows up in Vegas. Once she's rendered the Photo-JPEG file, if she then adds the resulting .MOV file to her Project Media, it shows no thumbnail and doesn't seem to recognize the file type at all -- she's not able to pull it to the trimmer or the timeline. However, the same is true for files she renders as Motion JPEG B. In my Vegas, if I pull the .MOV files I create into Project Media, I get thumbnails and can trim and put them on the timeline, no problems. So that's probably a major clue.

I uninstalled her Quicktime and downloaded/installed the latest version. It hasn't helped.

All of her render settings appear to be the same as mine, so I'm at a loss to figure out what the problem is.

HELP!

Perrone -- I haven't tried a reinstall yet, but that's next on my list I suppose.

Eugenia -- I did consider that it might be a missing codec problem, but the problem is more than just Vegas not being able to recognize and use the .MOV files created using the Photo-JPEG render. I mean, Vegas is creating the files, but it's creating them with corrupt frames -- and that's really the most serious issue.. So it seems more likely that it's a corrupt codec, rather than a missing one, don't you think?

Then again, even the .MOV files created using the Motion JPEG B codec still behave the same when brought into Vegas -- no thumbnail, and they can't be viewed, trimmed or edited. It's almost as if Vegas thinks the files are offline or something. It's weird.

Back to the codec issue for a moment, the one thing I forgot to mention is that I have Quicktime Pro on my PC, where she only has the free Quicktime player.

We'll do the uninstall and reinstall of Vegas. If that doesn't fix it, we'll try the ffdshow download.

Thanks!
