Our movie is about how families and friends spend their last few hours on earth. An alien spaceship crash-lands in Florida. It is loaded with a device more powerful than 10,000 atomic bombs. It is going to explode in less than 48 hours. A reality television show chooses nine families, without their knowledge, to star in As the World Burns. If the show is successful, the network’s ratings should go through the roof - along with everything else on the planet.
So, how would you spend your time?

As soon as we have 1000 hits on this thread I will be polling five more selections.

What about something like...

Off the Air
The Nielsens (if your family doesn't have a name)
Sweeps Week (if it was a whole week to explode)

None of those titles sound good.

Maybe that is why rbilsbor was suggesting another title.

Just so you know, we started with a list of 165 names. We narrowed them down to 10. This is the first set of 5.

If the planet goes up in smoke, then why would ratings matter if no one is around to enjoy it?

My titles suggestion:
"Dude, where's my car ... it's time to go."
"Alaska or bust!"
"Apocalypse Now II"
"Honey, they blew up the kids!"
"Arma-get-it-on" Reality Porn

I think you should take the "..." off the end of Please Stand By. That would work better I think.

i'm still lost with what this movie is about. i agree with Ranger...if the planet is going to be blown, who gives a **** if the ratings are up? do you mean the families are TOLD that the planet is going to explode but it really isnt?

yeah, is it like the truman show/war of the worlds?

i think, if the world is about to blow. i'd sit down and watch a reality tv show about how people are dealing with that fact. oh, and id eat lots of junk food too. and i would have a constant stream of prostitutes coming to my pad, and id probly try cocaine,heroine, and acid for the first and last time. although i dont know if i would have enough time to enjoy them each completly. although, then it would probly turn out to be a false alarm, and id end up strung out...deseased...and fat....yay!

Oh man... I'm having a flashback. A few years ago the marketing team sent an email to the development team asking them to vote for one of four names that they had for our new product. The replies were all along the lines of "the names suck" or "how about this name"... etc, etc..

In the end the marketing team just picked the name they liked and went with it.

The real bummer was that a couple of the suggested names were better, the name the marketing team selected turned out to already be a registered name with its own web domain/site, and the final kicker... they paid one of those overpriced name generation companies to come up the list! Yes, there are companies that charge bazillions to come up with all those dumb new drug, car, etc. names.

I picked what I thought the best of the 5 was, but I think some of the suggestions you have gotten are definitely better.

Also, why are you hiding the results, what would it harm to let people see what is winning?
