Hi guys,

Got a problem here! A friend of mine bought a wireless kit for his wireless setup, the item as below

Receiver: Lectrosonic R400A
Transmitter: Lectrosonic UM400A
wireless mic: B6

Two sets...
Block 25.

He went back to Beijing, China, he told me that his two sets of wireless system got hiss problem.
like the noise with the audio comes in the wireless .... for instance, if the talent says YES.... the noise or the hiss will come up according to the way Yes sounds ...but of course will have small hiss if the environment is silence....

Any idea what's going on with the wireless.... China I think they are using block 27, but it should not be the problem of it....

When he bought them, the audio guy told me that in the US, people rarely use this set up, but didn't mention anything to the hiss or the noise...

so...

Any advice or suggestions would be highly appreciated !

Sounds like its possibly companding artifacts he is hearing
which in general means he is setting his transmitter gain way too low.

It could also be the way the microphone is wired to the TA5 connector.
If his b6 was wired for a different style transmitter (even different lectrosonics)
it could be the cause of your noise.

Is the transmitter set to work with the 400 series. On certain Lectro products, the units must be set to communicate with the correct series (100, 200, 400...etc). If they are not set right, the S/N is way off.

That should not be the problem I guess, because other soundman are using the exact setup but only their block is not 25.

Last night we did a test on his set up using my B3, it doesn't cost any noise or hiss.... It should be the B6 wire.... perhaps! he is going to bring his kit to an audio shop and try their B3... if it works well, his idea is to put his B6 for sale ....

Thanks guys!

Hiro
