First off, I'm brand new to the forum, this is my first post but I have been reading through many of the threads/posts and I can't say enough how incredible this forum is with so much valuable information and people....:)

So, I'm shooting a documentary going straight to DVD of a GreekFest (college) at Jones Beach, NY this weekend. I will shoot interviews, performance footage and crowd scenes and also at nightclubs. I'm shooting it on my DVX100A with the following audio equipment.
1) Audio-Tech 4073A
2) Audio-Tech 15' XLR cable
3) Audio-Tech Shock Mount
4) Rycotie Softie
5) Gitzo Carbon Fiber Boom
6) Sennshieser MD 46
7) Possibly bring my Sennshier wireless G2 kit.

I have never done audio so this will be my first time ( I only have a 3 person crew) Am I good with this package?? I don't have a mixer or recorder so I will be recording directly into the camera. Is this a wise decision? Someone mentioned that if i use the camera it will eat up alot of the battery...Also, will the loud party crowd pick up with the 4073A? I would appreciate ANY help on how I should go about this....

You will need a mixer, several books on audio, and low expectations if this is your first time on audio. Keep reading this forum and others. Try and do some practice shoots before this weekend to work out the most obvious kinks.

Good luck
