Hi. Am new to this and looking at buying A Panasonic DVX. Getting confused with model numbers. I can see various models around - incluing DVX100, DVX100a, DVX 100ae. Are there more? What are they all. Is it the same camera (with 24p/25p). I need PAL - do the numbers mean some are PAL and some are NTSC. If anyone could break it down for me, I'd be very grateful. Thanks SO much! Look forward to hearting back from you. :)

Re: Help re: DVXs!

You want the 100AE. It's the latest PAL version for Europe. It doesn't have 24p, but it has 25p and 50i.

Hi jezbond,

yes, you want the PAL one. The DVX100AE.

Have a look at this site:
http://www.videoactionpro.com/index.php

I got mine from there, and it seems to be the cheapest place.

All others are £200 or £300 pounds more. At least the ones I looked into when I bought mine.

All the best

Fidel.

Re: Help DVXs!

Fidel,

What was your experence of videoactionpro?

Does the DVX look like an 'official' UK DVX100AE? Is there a Panansonic Warranty in the box?

Just wanted to know before I make the big purchase from them!

Cheers, Andy. ;)

Re: Help DVXs!

Andy, I checked out a load of places both in UK and abroad and ended up buying from UK authorised dealer so didn't have any grey import issues. The cheapest legit place I found is called VISUAL IMPACT. They are in Teddington and supply to the BBC and various other companies. I went in twice befoe buying to have a chat with them, get advice and have a play with the camera. They warranty for two years (a year longer than manufacturer), and are an authorised service centre. So if anything goes wrong you deal direct with them AND they give you a free replacement camera while they fix yours. All this and they throw in a couple of hours training for free too. I have had the cam for a few weeks now and am going for my training on Wednesday. Put it through a company so you can get the VAT back and you'll get all this for only £2,350.
Well, that's what i'd say!......

Re: Help DVXs!

Hi Andy,

Yes, like jezbod said. But, you can call videoactionpro and they will make it cheaper if you find a place which is doing cheaper.
Mine has got a two year warranty as well.
Give them a call and tell them you have seen the camera cheaper at another place, and he will reduce the price.

All the best

Fidel.
