hi i captured about 90 clips into fcphd dvntsc 720x480,all play fine in fcp but if i go into capture scratch and click on the quicktime files them selves quicktime openes them stretched out into 16x9. i also transfered those files to an external drive for some one and they opened them in after effects and they were stretched, yet they play fine in fcp? does anybody have any idea what could be causing this?

thanks

hmm...

is the sequence setting in your project is NTSC DV?
Was the anamorphic box accidentally checked or pixel aspect ration changed to something else? Sometimes it happens.

What are the exact steps you did when you brought the footage in?

Try trashing your Final Cut preferences.
library>finalcutpro>Prefs
(make sure you backup your original prefs first)

Then restart fresh. Pick NTSC DV as the sequence preset and try to re-import the footage.

I just thought about it... if quicktime plays it back stretched from the raw capture scratch file... then the file "is" stretched... Especially if it plays back stretched in After Effects stretched. Something happened during the capture or something. What source did you capture from? Perhaps a setting on the VTR may have been different.

Are all 90 clips stretched?
