Okay, what else can go wrong??
I run Premiere 6.0 on a WinXP machine. Had no problems with it at all. I have several projects of various lengths, all of which were created using this version of Premiere on this PC.
I was having a problem with my firewire port. Odds are, the port is dead. But as a last-ditch effort before going out to buy a firewire card, I decided to restore WinXP from the DVDs. I just did the simple restore that supposedly reloaded the drivers and files that came with the PC originally.
That install went fine -- but now I can't load any of my Premiere projects!!! It will get part-way through the load, then crash with a pretty useless error. "Adobe Premiere has encountered a problem and needs to close." If I click on the link for more info, I get a box that says "Error Signature". It shows "AppName: premiere.exe" and "AppVer: 6.0.0.0" and "ModName: im-te.prm" and "ModVer: 0.0.0.0" and "Offset: 000049ef". That's about it for info.
I get this same error even if I boot in SAFE mode.
I did reload the driver for my LCD monitor, but the error was occuring even before that. I've tried various display settings, and cut the hardware acceleration down to 'None', but still the same problem.
I uninstalled and reinstalled Premiere, but that didn't help either. So now I'm at a loss, and desperate to get this thing back up and running -- I've got projects due!
Any advice??
