HELP please ! Write error or disk full messages?????

Hi.
I'm converting a bunch of 7D footage at full rez to prorez422 with mpeg streamclip.
My problem? I'm trying to convert a 9 min clip ( 3.2 gb) but it stops half way thru conversion to say "write error or disk full" when I still have 30 gb of space on my hard drive. I know I'm cutting it close with the amount of space I have left on my ext drive, but shouldn't there still be enough room to convert this footage?
Or is the clip too long for streamclip? I've never had an isuue all year up till now. I have a couple more clips to convert yet by days end and this is getting frustrating. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated!!

....ok not sure what's happening here.

I just realized that a converted prores clip WAS created and it looks great...EVEN THOUGH the conversion was halted half way thru AND with the error messages coming up. This happened 6x in a row. It works well in the FCP timeline and exported to a 720p mov with absolutely no issues....so I don't get it.

Anyone have an idea what's happening here? By all accounts, because it NEVER finished converting, it should be a corrupt file. No?
