Help please, Modding an EVF to work with my t2i

So I was doing some light research on the topic of using an EVF viewfinder on a t2i, and I happened to find one on ebay for $5. SCORE! I have found some threads here and there showing the basics of how to do this, but nothing went in depth.

What has to happen for this to work:
1) Map out the 8 Pin DIN of the EVF, find video in and out, and find power in and out. Has anyone attempted this before? Help figuring out the layout?
2) Find a female 8 Pin that matches the male port on my camera, and solder the power, and video, to the right ports. This will involve sacrificing my usb a/v cable, but i'm fine with that. Need to figure out what 8 pin din it is so I can get the right port, and figure out the right amount of power.

any info, tips, pointers, links, and help would be SUPER appreciated, thanks :dankk2:

well the first think I have to do is try to figure out what pins are the + and - power feed, then find what two pins are linked to video + and -. I'm using a multimeter and just trying combos seeing if I can find the right two prongs.

if it's any help - the Sony VF used a standard 8-pin DIN in-line socket (female). it fitted straight on to the existing VF plug. the Hitachi pin spacing looks a bit different though, but you might be able to force the DIN socket on - then at least you have something to solder to.
alternatively you could just get a small length of 8-way cable, cut and re-solder each wire, and make a fly lead straight out of the VF, bypassing the weird plug altogether (obviously marking the wires carefully), then work on figuring out what's what.

(even if you end up frying the VF altogether you can, with a bit of creativity, still use the lens part to make a cheap Z-finder type add-on!)

Thanks. I am hoping to find an 8 pin female socket somewhere, so that the soldering will be easier.
