I have removed a myriad of unused files from my browser, my sequence settings are just fine.
But every time I go to convert using quicktime - I'm getting error messages. out of memory.
Googled this to death. Any suggestions welcome, pls.

Ive had this

Did these actions and it worked (that does not mean that there is a correlation)

-quit QT
-make some space on HD (to have 25% of 2tb free)
-quit Photoshop
- save and restart FCP

Quicktime isn't open, photoshop isn't open. I have 400Gb on my scratch drive out of 750Gb. On my Internal drive I have 211GB out of 500Gb.
I recently had some chap install a bunch of plugins on my FCP7 - maybe that's causing this? It takes forever for FCP7 to load now. Thankfully, this is the last project I'll do on FCP7.
I've tried X and even though I'm slower as I learn. I'll get used to it, but for now I need to render this project!

Is FCPX on the same partition as FCP7? I've seen weird issues when I first tried to install FCPX side by side on the same partition - it broke Compressor support for FCP7 among other things and I ended up reformatting and creating 2 partitions so I could install both Final Cuts separately. (FCPX will still run even if it's on a separate OS partition, you just lose the ability to bounce a project from FCPX into Compressor 4).

You may want to try the usual culprits such as going into disc utility and fixing permissions. Do you have any idea what is sucking your memory up? Try going into utilities and selecting Activity Monitor and go to the tab "all processes". Scroll down and look at what is using the CPU and memory. If you truly need RAM, the good news is that you can get an upgrade to as much as 16 GB of RAM for a fairly cheap price. Other World Computing sells either an 8 GB chip by itself for 89.99. That would give you 12 GB. As a general rule watch out for plugins if you are not sure of their validity. I think you will like FCP X once you immerse yourself. I bought the training program from Ripple Training and it was great. The speed of editing makes it worth it. Some folks do not like the program, but I also remember FCP 1.25 and it had its' share of issues as well. Compressor is still compressor. I am not the biggest fan of that program. Good luck!

8GB of RAM is more than enough considering that FCP7 won't use more than 3.5GB of it (Compressor as well).

Still tackling this issue - I just realized there's a Silent film card PSD file in the timeline. Might that be causing the issue and what's the work around?
Turn it into a Jpeg, possibly?
