Help: one coollights LED600 is different to the other

We use an integrating sphere which is what any company that makes light bulbs, LEDs, etc. will use:

This unit has a radiospectrographic computer hooked up and prints out spectrum, CRI, lumens, etc. These units use CCDs for their sensors which for some reason are considered better for test equipment than CMOS sensors. Also in most hand meters I know about there are only 2 or 3 sensors for R&B or RG&B. The integrating sphere has many sensors in it for beyond RGB sensing.

For regular imaging work, CMOS sensors are fine. Its best to remember the goal of videography is not to measure color temperature in a scientific or lab type environment like a manufacturer would. Rather it is to do whatever it takes to make the best images possible which is easier than ever with digital mediums and white balance. When people ask me, I always tell them to use LEDs in isolation with only LEDs and don't try to mix it all that much with other sources. Another generation or two there won't be those concerns any more with LEDs.

I am familiar with the CL-200a but have not had a chance to test it. Those units are about $3250 street price so I think its a bit beyond the means of the normal videographer/DP. For that price, I should hope they do what they say they can do. Would love to test one though.
