help on windows media encoder FYI

I'm about to do a live windows media encoded broadcast. A dual bit-rate web-video broadcast from Tallahassee. Anyone have some helpful advice on how to run the system.. and what type of system to buy. Thanks.

I'm also interested, as I would like to present a live weekly show. I really wish I had paid more attention to the technical aspect, back when I was helping do live shows with SurfGuru. What kind of gear do you currently have?

Justyn,

Are you in Tallahassee? If so, contact me and I'll try to help you. I have been running live Windows Media Encoding here for a few years.

If you can tell me what you are specifically looking for, I can try to help. Alternately, Microsoft published a very nice guide to doing live encoding with the server that I used as my guideline when setting this up some time ago. The only thing I had to change was the default frame size from 640x480, to 720x480 to get a full frame. You could change it to 1920x1080, or 1280x720 if you so desire and your capture card supports it. (We are SD only).

What kind of shoot do you do, and what gear do you have? I mean, video mixers, laptops, stuff like that. At SurfGuru, they used a PC to encode to wmv, and a wireless transmitting tower on a trailer to send field video to the server. I don't remember what kind of mixer.
