Help on color grading HVX footage

I've been shooting a friends wedding with a HVX200, I was using the F5 scene file (changed color temperature to +2 and detail to -2). I was using squeeze mode, camera mode film cam, SD on MiniDV, 25i (I didn't use 25p because on my tests it just didn't look right on a tv screen, it was stuttering a lot, not at all like real film)

I like the overall look of the footage, but I want to do a general color grading.
My problem is that the footage looks a lot like "old film". It's got this kind of brownish touch to everything and the color highlights seem a little desaturated. I know the brownish tone is probably a result of the color temperature +2 which I set on purpose because I really like the warmth on skin tones.

My first guess would be I need to move the dark tones away from the brown/yellow/red. However I don't want to go into this greenish-blueish dark tones you can see in a lot of movies/tv series nowadays (I mean it's a wedding video and it shouldn't be looking like a sci-fi action movie...).

I'm ready to experiment, but maybe someone can give me a hint on what I should try first because right now I'm having a million options...

Thanks in advance!

Can you post some stills? Usually you would start with setting a white balance and shifting that but sounds like you like the overall color warmth and don't want to change that.

The easiest way is to use the scopes.
View a clip.

Choose Window>Arrange>Color Correction

Look at the Parade Scope in the lower right.

The red channel probably has a higher black level
than the green and blue.

Choose Effects>VideoFilters>Color Correction>Color Corrector 3-way

Use the Blacks white-balance control to move the red level down.

Use the Help for more details.
