Help Needed: MXO 2 LE w/Max

Hello,

I've searched through the forums and haven't really found much about this unit. Sorry in advance if this has been covered already.

I'm seriously looking at the Matrox MXO2 LE w/ MAX. Does anyone have any experience with this unit or any previous/similar model? I've used some Matrox stuff before on the PC side, and it was pretty much junk. However, their real-time export was pretty sweet (back in the day).

Anyway, before I go drop some coin, I wanted to gather some insight from the board.

Thanks,
T

I have the MXO2...but without the MAX. But I tested the MXO2 mini with Max. What's your question?

I am curious about your comment about their stuff on the PC side being "junk." You referring to the AXIO? Because it is pretty solid from what a friend tells me. Laughs at me when I say I can't do a lot of stuff in real time...like he does.

Shane,

I had the R.TX 100, and while the real time exports were great - it's integration with Adobe Premiere was terrible. It was very unstable during editing. I just don't want to walk down this path again. I used to spend hours on the Matrox message boards trying to diagnose problems. Never again.

So I guess my question is - how is the integration with FCP? Any stability problems? Any glitches?

I have been using the MXO2 with FCP for over a year and haven't had any issues. Know that the MXO2 isn't like the RT boxes on the PC side...they don't add RT performance. No capture cards for Macs do. They take a little of the processing power off of the computer when dealing with anamorphic footage, but that's it.

Just so you aren't expecting the same RT benefits of the Axio.

Integration is good and easy, no stability problems, no glitches on my end.
