HELP!! My editing program hangs in the balance!

Whenever I insert a wma file into the music track and play it back there are little noise pops. The sample rate is 44,100 bit depth: 18 so I dont know what is causing these extremely annoying pops. Any remedies to this problem?
 
I dont know exactly, but I think Vegas plays a default of 16-bit. Thats just a wild guess though.
