Hi,
I've gone from warp speed in fCP7 to toddler, but one of the things that attracted me to fCpX was the sync function that I saw in a promotional video.
So I have a music video and I just want to throw down eight takes of the video and sync the playback audio with the MP3. Does anyone know how to do this?
All help much appreciated.
Cheers!

MP3? Seriously, for music? OK, if you insist. In the Browser highlight the clips you want to sync, right-click one of them, from the pop-up menu chose "Synchronize Clips".

But it sounds more like you want to do a multicam edit, not simply sync them. Same process, except in the pop-up menu chose "New Multicam Clip".

MP3 - that's what the musicians provided. Should I be converting it to something else?
Yes, new multi-cam clip is what I've been selecting and going with the default settings.
FCP seems to work, the progress bar moves then finishes and poof - nothing.
The resultant file/clip/whatever is nowhere to be found. Tried 4 times, same result.
Multicam doesn't work for me for some funny reason.

You should ask for a high quality audio file (AIF or WAV), converting won't improve your MP3.
In a music video, audio is more important than video.

Thanks, will do. But even when it goes to youtube or vimeo, doesn't the quality take a hit?

EDIT: Called the musicians. They're happy with MP3, said they'd done a project with a big studio
and MP3 was all they'd put online. Good enough for human ears!!

Besides I also know Youtube can be stripped of audio content - the software exists.
