Help! More timecode breaks in Final Cut!

I've posted about this before...I use a 1-chip camera to capture into FCP. While capturing, FCP will often stop the camera/deck and "locate timecode break." This is a slow process and is a pain in the ass every time it happens.

I just went to Target and bought a brand-new Sony 1-chip and it's doing it again!
All the footage is coming from different cameras.

This didn't happen when I captured on my PC with Premiere. Could it be something wrong with my brand-new Mac Pro?

Maybe try a different Firewire port?

Thanks.

Well, it happened again, and this time I looked real close and toggled back and forth on the tape and sure enough, right where FCP detected a timecode break, the TC jumped from 01:48:45:00 to 01:48:47:00.

It looks like it missed 2 seconds or so...what does that mean?

Hmmm...is that the fault of the camera it was shot with?
I guess I didn't need to buy this new 1-chip.

TC breaks on the cameras tend to be when you either power down the camera without pausing the record or when you are doing some reviewing of the material. This is the ONE time where striping the tape would have helped.
