Help me Streamline a process. Please...

Hey everyone. I do numerous software training videos and need help streamlining the process.

For the videos, the first section is of a talking head giving an introduction. The talking head comes back whenever there is a new topic brought up.

For the rest of the time it is screen capture. The computers the software is on do not allow any screen capture software to be downloaded on to them.

Up until not I have been recording the video/audio straight on to p2 cards on my hvx. I then have been recording the screen captures onto a dv deck coming from a vga computer feed at 640x480.

I need to get a better resolution screen capture, to do this I realize i would need to use something other than a deck to record to. I would also like whatever it is i am recording the screen capture to, to have audio to make it easy to match up with the video/audio from the hvx.

and remember, the only screen capture feed I can get is the vga coming from the computer.

and ideas/suggestions to make this better would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

-Ben

yea its policy for the systems we are working with. they are airforce intel type softwares. and client is very sensitive about letting 3rd party apps run on their machines

How do they feel about using better graphics cards that can feed something higher res other than the stone age vga you're using now?

With screen capture software or output from the video card... you're still doing capture. So why does it matter if it's done with software or hardware? Software (I think) is going to be your best option, and will give you the most resolution/quality/features.

Can't you just disconnect the computer from the network while you're doing the screen capture? To me, it seems strange to allow hardware video capture but not software video capture.

its not so much the screen capture. its the installing of outside software. I dont make the rules I just have to play by them.

Basically what we have is a vga output that is mirroring the users computer screen.

As for disconnecting from the network. That's not an option, most of the software is network based, and does not fully function when disconnected.

here is what i found today that i think might help with a better capture resolution

its a vga to usb adapter.will provide much better than capturing to a deck.
