Help me spend some money.

I figured that since this is the cafe, maybe people wouldn't get uptight about the fact that this post has probably been answered a thousand times and maybe I'm a retard with the search engine, who knows. Anyway. I just bought a DVX and tripod. I have a matte box, rails and a homemade dolly. I'm going to shoot my first short August 11 under the blazing sun. I've got 1000 dollars, what do I spend it on?

I suppose the standard advice would be getting a nice UV or polarising filter for the cam...And also you might want to think about a nice mic to provide good audio...
 
I'd say get a great mic. As good as it'll look, if it has shoddy sound it's pretty dismissable.
 
i second the microphone, get a good shotgun. a polarizer is also a must have.

and feed your crew.
 
A good polarizing filter costs around $1000? You can rent 'em for about 4 bucks a day everywhere I've checked...
 
a screw on polarizer is about 100 bucks. if it's a 4x4 for a matte box, idk. but add that to a good shotgun and some lights, you can get to a grand easy.
 
If you wanted to spend under five hundred for a mic, which one would you choose. I like sennheiser but which one? The ME66? Thanks for your input guys. I just love this page.

Go to the audio forum. This has been discussed countless times there. And, no, I don't think you'lll find too many fans of the ME-66 there.

he's the alterego of an escaped mental patient whose idenetity was accidentaly copied to the ineternet during an experimental therapy.

we've done several server upgrades to try and get rid of him, but nothing seems to exorcise this particular ghost in the machine.
